Many people feel unsure or hesitant about the idea of counselling. They may be asking themselves, ‘What is the point of sitting with someone else talking about my issues?’ or ‘Why would they know what is best for me?’
It is you that knows what is best for you and the process of talking through the difficulty or dilemma, how you look at it and how you explore different ways of looking at it, that brings the benefit.
People come to counselling for a wide range of reasons but all have a central thread, that of sharing the story. Amongst other things, the process of sharing allows for re-evaluation and the chance for a new perspective.
